Max Verstappen equalled Alain Prost’s tally of 51 victories with an emphatic triumph at the Mexican Grand Prix – as Sergio Perez’s home race came to a sorry end after just 14 seconds PUBG
Verstappen’s remarkable winning sequence, which now includes a record 16 in one season, continued in the breathless Mexico City air following two pulsating starts after Kevin Magnussen’s high-speed crash resulted in a reg flag at the midway stage of Sunday’s 71-lap race PUBG
Verstappen mastered both getaways to draw alongside four-time world champion Prost, with only Lewis Hamilton (103 wins), Michael Schumacher (91) and Sebastian Vettel (53) ahead of the all-conquering Dutchman in Formula One folklore PUBG
Hamilton impressed to finish runner-up, ahead of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz PUBG
Lando Norris drove from 17th to fifth, passing George Russell with four laps remaining on a strong afternoon for the Brit, in an event that Perez will want to forget PUBG
As Verstappen sliced through the middle of pole-sitter Leclerc, and his Ferrari team-mate Sainz on the 830 metre charge to the opening bend, 130,000 Mexican hearts sank when an over-eager Perez crashed into Leclerc PUBG
Perez, who started fifth, ran line astern with Leclerc and Verstappen as the trio stamped on the brakes from 200mph for the opening bend – and Perez, occupying the racing line, sensed his opportunity for glory PUBG
But his banzai move was badly misjudged PUBG
The 33-year-old turned into Leclerc, and was sent airborne before landing back on four wheels and spinning into the run-off area PUBG
Perez limped back to the pits but the damage sustained to his machine left his race in tatters PUBG
Perez banged his steering wheel with both hands in frustration PUBG
Children were left seeking comfort from their parents in the grandstands PUBG
Perez’s Red Bull mechanics attempted a quick fix to get their man back on track PUBG
But after a handful of laps they conceded defeat PUBG

He has one year to run on his deal, but the paddock is awash with rumours that he could be replaced next year PUBG
Daniel Ricciardo is mooted as a possible candidate, and Perez’s first-corner disaster – coupled with the Australian out-performing his modest AlphaTauri machinery to take the chequered flag in seventh in just his fourth comeback race, will do little to dampen the speculation PUBG
Perez last won a race in Azerbaijan on April 30, and his failure to finish at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez leaves his second place in the championship under threat from Hamilton PUBG
Indeed, the seven-time world champion reduced the gap from 39 points to 20 with his strong display PUBG
For Verstappen, this was his 32nd victory – remarkably the same tally double world champion Fernando Alonso has managed throughout his entire career – from his last 41 appearances, dating back to his controversial triumph over Hamilton in Abu Dhabi in 2021 PUBG
Hamilton, who has not won a race during that period, crossed the line a close second to Verstappen in America a week ago before he was disqualified for running his Mercedes too close to the floor PUBG

On lap 11 he blasted past Ricciardo for fourth PUBG
Verstappen gave up his lead on lap 19 after he stopped for new rubber, with Hamilton in five laps later PUBG
Then on lap 34, the race was suspended PUBG
Magnussen lost control of his Haas at 130mph through Turn 8 PUBG
The Dane ended up in the wall following a suspected rear suspension failure PUBG
He swiftly emerged from his cockpit before his mangled machine caught fire PUBG
The safety car was deployed but with significant damage to the tyre barrier, repairs were required, and the race was halted, leading to a 22-minute delay PUBG
“That’s a joke,” complained Verstappen PUBG
“A red flag for what?”TOP-10 - MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX 1) Max Verstappen2) Lewis Hamilton (+ fastest lap)3) Charles Leclerc4) Carlos Sainz5) Lando Norris6) George Russell7) Daniel Ricciardo8) Oscar Piastri9) Alex Albon10) Esteban OconThe drivers lined up on the grid for the second standing start of the afternoon with Hamilton the sole man in the top five on the quicker, medium rubber PUBG
But it was Verstappen who produced another scintillating getaway to leave the others trailing in his wake PUBG
He set about building his gap, with Hamilton intent on taking Leclerc for second, and on lap 40, he did just that following a bold and gutsy move PUBG
On the fastest straight of the year, Hamilton jinked to Leclerc’s right, dropping two tyres on to the turf and kicking up dirt at 225mph, before holding his nerve under braking for the first corner to make the move stick PUBG
The British driver nursed his tyres to finish runner-up to Verstappen, 13 PUBG

Prost was 38 when he claimed his 51st and final win 30 years ago PUBG
Verstappen turned 26 only last month, with Vettel’s 53 triumphs now on his radar before the close of the year with races in Brazil and Las Vegas to follow ahead of the final round in Abu Dhabi on November 26 PUBG

A temporary interruption to the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match PUBG between India and New Zealand due to dense fog led to several memes on social media even as the cricket pitch at picturesque Dharamshala city came in for criticism PUBG
The match was briefly halted when low-hanging clouds and the mist engulfed the entire HPCA stadium – one of the most picturesque cricket grounds in the world thanks to the Dhauladhar mountain range that is a part of the majestic Himalayas in the backdrop PUBG
The stadium is located in Dharamshala in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh PUBG
Before India secured a four-wicket win over New Zealand, the dense fog played spoilsport when the host team was 100 for 2 in their chase of 274 as Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer were at the crease PUBG
The Black Caps visibly looked unhappy with the situation when they talked to the on-field umpires PUBG
Kohli and Iyer soon joined the conversation PUBG
With the weather becoming severe, the players were asked to leave the field and commentators on air clarified that the players wouldn’t go back on the field till conditions improved PUBG

One user on X/Twitter likened the fog to the entrances made by WWE star Undertaker PUBG
“Breaking: Play stopped in Dharamsala due to undertaker’s entrance,” wrote the X user PUBG
Another user said the fog was star player Shubman Gill’s revenge against mosquitos PUBG
Gill had to stop playing for India briefly after he reportedly contracted dengue fever PUBG
The user was apparently likening the fog at the stadium to mosquito foggers often used in localities in India to curb the spread of mosquitos PUBG
A few users took a dig at the disputed relations PUBG between the Indian and Pakistani cricket boards PUBG
India were in control of their chase when the play stopped on Sunday, with Iyer scoring 21 runs off just eight deliveries PUBG
The middle-order batter struck two consecutive boundaries just before the on-field umpires signalled for the game to halt PUBG
The play resumed after a break of just over 10 minutes PUBG
Iyer fell in the 22nd over, scoring 33 off 29 balls PUBG
Kohli went on to play until the 48th over but missed out on a record-equalling 49th ODI century by just five runs, He is still a hundred behind India great Sachin Tendulkar’s world record of 49 centuries in the 50-over format PUBG
Meanwhile, the HPCA outfield was also one of the topics of discussion as most of the Indian players chose not to dive to save runs to avoid any potential injuries PUBG
India captain Rohit Sharma made a sliding effort and hurt his little finger early on in the first innings, forcing him to leave the field for treatment PUBG
He, however, returned to lead the side PUBG
The HPCA outfield first came under criticism with England captain Jos Buttler terming it as “poor” ahead of their World Cup match against Bangladesh PUBG
“It's poor in my own opinion PUBG
I think any time you're sort of talking about being careful diving or sort of being careful when you're fielding, it sort of goes against everything you want to be as a team,” Buttler said earlier in the tournament PUBG
“You know you want to dive through our houses to save a run PUBG
So, that’s obviously not ideal, the way the surface is, the outfield PUBG
The outfield is different to when we played here in the IPL,” he said PUBG
Buttler’s comments came after Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott expressed his disapproval over the outfield in Dharamshala as well, after their match against Bangladesh PUBG
India’s next match in the World Cup 2023 is on 29 October against England in Lucknow PUBG
